Coffee Rue is a new coffee brand taking shape in Türkiye. Nothing is on sale yet, so we are starting by writing down plainly what we want to do.
In short
What is Coffee Rue?
Think of a street name: a route you take every day until you know it by heart. Coffee Rue is a new brand about the small place coffee keeps in the course of a day.
We haven’t chosen our coffees, where the beans will come from, or how we will sell them. So everything here is a preface: our intentions, our point of view, and notes on coffee at home, written with their sources.
A short film
A cup, from directly above
Every drawing on this site looks from the same angle: straight down. In this eight-second loop a cup fills, its crema turns, and then it all begins again.
Through the day
A route through the day
Coffee rarely marks a single moment; it tends to keep you company between things. The “rue” in our name is about that: a street, a route, a habit.
-
Morning Now
While the cezve warms
The few minutes before the day begins. The kitchen is still quiet, and there is no reason to hurry yet.
-
Afternoon Now
At the edge of the desk
A short stop wedged between tasks. Sometimes the cup is forgotten and goes cold. That is part of the day too.
-
Evening Now
As the street slows down
Coffee is no longer about staying awake. It is a reason to sit a little longer with someone.
Before we promise anything
Our point of view
-
We won’t make up what we don’t know.
We won’t tell the story of a bean we haven’t chosen. When we offer a coffee, we will also say what has been verified.
-
Habits first, shelves later.
Before selling anything, we want to understand how coffee fits into ordinary days.
-
Plain words.
Coffee doesn’t need grand language. Short, accurate, useful sentences are enough.
-
Useful to the reader.
The journal isn’t there to sell. It is for anyone who wants to make a better cup at home.
Sourced notes on coffee at home.

How to use a moka pot
A moka pot isn't an espresso machine, but used badly it becomes a burnt imitation of one. A few things are worth knowing.

How to make cold brew coffee
Most recipes say 12 to 24 hours. Published measurements suggest some of the key compounds level off much sooner.

How to make French press coffee
The French press is forgiving, but four details decide whether the cup is muddy, thin or good. Here they are.
A new coffee story is taking shape.
Our first coffees, our address and our doors are not decided yet. When they are, we will say so here, plainly.
